Overview:
The Northern California Radio-Television News Directors' Association (NorCal RTNDA), the only independent organization in our area devoted solely to electronic journalism. News Directors are the nucleus of NorCal RTNDA, but anybody who works in a newsroom or who has regular contact with newsrooms in any capacity is welcome to join. We have categories for television and radio stations, network bureaus and cable companies; for wire services, PR people, vendors, students and professors and for anybody else who's in tune with our goals. Ever since 1964, when the news directors from Bay area and Sacramento stations first sat down together for lunch in the wine cellar of a restaurant on Bush Street, NorCal RTNDA has been actively involved in finding solutions to problems we have faced in common, especially those involving access to information. Unfortunately, there are still doors unopened especially to courtrooms and "public" meetings. Some, we may be able to open for you; some, you may be able to help us open. NorCal RTNDA holds meetings to discuss matters of interest frequently with newsmakers as guests, an annual convention and an awards competition. At all our meetings, you'll find opportunities for professional development and good fellowship not necessarily in that order. All meetings are open to anyone who is interested in coming, but the only way you can be sure to be notified of them is to be on our roster.
